Sur la Grand-Place, la fondation de l’hôtel de ville de Binche est liée au développement économique de la cité – siège de la halle aux viandes – et à l’émergence des libertés communales, dont le beffroi constitue un autre puissant symbole. À ce titre, celui-ci a été inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial comme les autres beffrois de France et de Belgique.
Les trois arcades du rez-de-chaussée et la base du beffroi datent du XIVe siècle. Remanié par Jacques Du Broeucq au XVIe siècle, modifié par Laurent-Benoît Dewez (vers 1770) dans le style néoclassique, l’hôtel de ville recouvre son allure initiale à la fin du XIXe siècle. Le beffroi abrite également une horloge et un carillon du XVIe siècle.
