Haulchin est une section de la commune belge d'Estinnes, située en Région wallonne dans la province de Hainaut.L'origine du nom viendrait des mots latins "Monasterium aqua cinctum" Monastère entouré d'eau, ou suivant la construction latine monastère d'eau-ceint, suivant d'autres Haulchin vient des mots latins "locus alnis cinctus", lieu entourés d'aulnes, ou encore d'autres auteurs disent « chin » veut dire champ et « haul » vient de « attus » c'est-à-dire champs élevé. Au Moyen Âge on disait Halcinus.
