Le Burreken est une réserve naturelle protégée de 220 hectares, dont 33 ha sont actuellement gérés par Natuurpunt en tant que réserve. De nombreux ruisseaux de source jaillissent des sources tout aussi nombreuses et ont creusé profondément dans le paysage dans le passé. La végétation de cette zone forestière fortement vallonnée est la végétation typique de la forêt printanière: aulne noir, frêne commun et noisetier. Surtout au printemps, le Burreken est d’une beauté spectaculaire à visiter. Ensuite, entre autres, le blanc de l’anémone de la forêt et le bleu de la jacinthe sauvage fournissent un tapis coloré. La zone est librement accessible sur les routes existantes et les sentiers balisés.
