L'église Saint-Gilles ou église de Sint-Gillis-Buiten participera aux Journées des Églises Ouvertes 2013 les 1er et 2 juin. Une visite guidée sera donnée dans l'église entre 14h00 et 18h00. Entre 14h00 et 15h00, un concert de l'orgue aura lieu. Plus d'informations sur : www.openkerken.eu
L'église néogothique est un projet de l'architecte gantois Henri Vaerwyck. Avec l'église, la place de l'église et le presbytère ont également été réalisés entre 1903 et 1909. L'intérieur a également été conçu dans le style néogothique. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, l'église ne fut pas épargnée. Un incendie dans l'église a détruit une partie de l'intérieur et du clocher. L'église a été retouchée par l'architecte gantois Valentin Vaerwyck entre 1923 et 1924.
