La iglesia de San Egidio o la iglesia de Sint-Gillis-Buiten participará en los Días de Iglesias Abiertas 2013 el 1 y el 2 de junio. Habrá una visita guiada en la iglesia entre las 14:00 y las 18:00. Entre las 14:00 y las 15:00 habrá un concierto de órgano. Más información en: www.openkerken.eu
La iglesia neogótica es un diseño del arquitecto gante Henri Vaerwyck. Junto con la iglesia, también se construyeron la plaza de la iglesia y la parroquia durante el período de 1903 a 1909. El interior también fue construido en el estilo neogótico. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, la iglesia no fue perdonada. Un incendio en la iglesia destruyó parte del interior y el campanario. La iglesia fue restaurada por el arquitecto gante Valentin Vaerwyck entre 1923 y 1924.
