Die Sint-Egidius-Kirche oder Sint-Gillis-Buiten-Kirche nimmt an den Open-Kirchen-Tagen 2013 am 1. und 2. Juni teil. Es wird eine geführte Rundführung in der Kirche zwischen 14:00 und 18:00 Uhr geben. Zwischen 14:00 und 15:00 Uhr wird ein Orgelkonzert stattfinden. Mehr Informationen unter: www.openkerken.eu
Die neogotische Kirche ist ein Entwurf des gentischen Architekten Henri Vaerwyck. Zusammen mit der Kirche wurden auch der Kirchenplatz und das Pfarrhaus in der Zeit von 1903-1909 hergestellt. Das Interieur war ebenfalls in neogotischem Stil gestaltet. Während des Ersten Weltkriegs blieb die Kirche nicht verschont. Ein Brand in der Kirche zerstörte einen Teil des Innenraums und den Turm. Die Kirche wurde zwischen 1923 und 1924 von dem gentischen Architekten Valentin Vaerwyck restauriert.
