A cet endroit une dalle commémorative portant la date « 9 et 10 julyt 1580 » rappelle l’assaut de la ville par Olivier van den Tympel, ainsi que le fait que la ville a échappé aux iconoclastes.
En dessous se trouvent 32 boulets de canons, rappelant l’occupation par Philippe de Clèves. Le vitrail dans le mur ouest représente Saint-Martin, patron de l’église. La tour a une hauteur de 71 m et renferme un carillon de 54 cloches d’un poids total de 13 tonnes.
