Im Portal unter dem Turm erinnert ein Gedenkstein mit der Inschrift „9 et 10 julyt 1580“ an die Stürmung der Stadt durch Olivier van de Tympel und daran, dass die Stadt der Bildersturm entkam. Darunter liegen 32 Kanonenkugeln, die an die Belagerung durch Philipp von Cleef erinnern. Das Glasfenster in der Westwand des Turms stellt den Heiligen Martin dar, den Schutzpatron der Kirche. Der Turm ist 71 m hoch und enthält ein Glockenspiel mit 54 Glocken, die insgesamt 13 Tonnen wiegen.
