Le premier château de Ter Rijst fut détruit par le comte de Hainaut en 1169. Le second château fut démoli en 1480 par un certain Karel van der Noot qui y fit construire un véritable château. Ce château a été en grande partie démoli en 1868 par le vicomte Théodore de Nieulant de Pottelsberghe, qui a donné au château sa forme actuelle. Le château classique est meublé comme un B & B et un restaurant. Le parc de 100 hectares respire l’histoire et possède de nombreux arbres indigènes, de belles fleurs rares, une population animale tourbillonnante et des vues phénoménales. Vous pouvez marcher ici en paix. Au printemps, vous pourrez profiter pleinement de la beauté des fleurs du parc.
