Det første slot Ter Rijst blev ødelagt i 1169 af greven af Hainaut. Det andet slot blev i 1480 nedrevet af en vis Karel van der Noot, der lod bygge en rigtig borg. Denne borg blev så i 1868 stort set revet ned af burggreven Théodore de Nieulant de Pottelsberghe, som gav slottet dets nuværende form. Det klassicistiske slot er indrettet som B&B og restaurant. Den 100 hektar store park ånder historie og præsenterer talrige indfødte træer, smukke sjældne blomster, en mangfoldig dyreliv og fantastiske udsigter. Du kan gå her i fuldstændig ro.
