Ce cimetière est nommé d'après une ferme voisine désignée par les unités britanniques sous le nom de « Cement House ». Le cimetière de Cement House est un exemple de cimetière de concentration. Pendant longtemps, c'était également le seul cimetière du Commonwealth dont le registre demeurait ouvert pour l'inhumation de nouvelles tombes. Toutes les victimes britanniques retrouvées ces dernières années dans la zone industrielle le long du canal ont été et sont enterrées ici.
