Este cementerio lleva el nombre de una granja cercana que las unidades británicas llamaban 'Cement House'. El Cement House Cemetery es un ejemplo de un cementerio de concentración. Durante mucho tiempo, también fue el único cementerio de la Commonwealth cuyo registro permaneció abierto para la inhumación de nuevas tumbas. Todas las víctimas británicas que se encontraron en los últimos años en la zona industrial junto al canal, fueron y son enterradas aquí.
