C’est un bâtiment unique. Construit vers 1840 entièrement en briques, ce pont à marteaux s’étend sur la vallée de la Geul ; Il relie Herbesthal à Aix-la-Chapelle et devient ainsi la première liaison ferroviaire de la Belgique avec d’autres pays.
