Park 58 doit son nom à l’Exposition universelle de 1958, qui a vu l’aménagement d’une partie des dunes en parc. Une zone de dunes a toutefois été conservée sous la forme de maigres herbages et broussailles assez riches en calcaire. La flore de ces terrains clairsemés est particulièrement diversifiée et comporte des espèces qui ont presque entièrement disparu de la côte orientale. Un accord de gestion avec la municipalité a placé ce biotope unique sous l’administration du département Natuurpunt de Knokke-Heist. Il est totalement libre d’accès, à condition de respecter ses trésors naturels.
