En octobre 2003, la municipalité de Herne a inauguré une statue chartreuse. La raison en était, entre autres, le cœur de la duchesse Marguerite d’York, qui a été enterrée il y a 500 ans dans la chartreuse de Herne. La sculpture en pierre bleue est de Roger Schrije. Il représente 2 chartreux, face à face et avec un globe entre les deux. Ce dernier est entouré d’un groupe de métal dans lequel les étoiles sont élaborées. Ceux-ci font référence au fondateur de l’Ordre des Chartreux, Saint Bruno et à ses 6 compagnons.
