Le château de Hoyoux - autrefois la résidence de chasse du prince-évêque de Liège - a été construit au 15e siècle. Depuis 1975, le domaine appartient au baron Berghmans. En plus d'une maison résidentielle centrale, il y a une ferme avec des logements privés. Les étangs et le ruisseau complètent ce tableau romantique. Cet endroit est inconnu mais oh combien beau ! Le Hoyoux – la rivière la plus rapide de Belgique – a fourni un emploi à des milliers de personnes pendant des siècles. Le ruisseau avait donc beaucoup d'atouts. Non seulement l'eau s'écoulait très rapidement (idéal pour mettre en mouvement les roues des moulins à eau), mais l'eau était également exceptionnellement pure (indispensable pour la production de papier).
