La Grande-Nèthe est un affluent de la Nèthe et fait partie du bassin fluvial de l’Escaut. Elle est longue de 44 km. La Grande-Nèthe prend sa source au nord-est de Hechtel. Un peu plus haut en aval d'ici, à Lierre, elle rejoint la Petite-Nèthe et forme la Nèthe ou la Nèthe inférieure.
