Comme le décrit Pascal Verbeken dans son livre Brutopia, Het Rad est un musée en plein air d'un siècle de construction de logements sociaux, ou un Bokrijk rouge. Dans la rue des Potiers, vous pouvez trouver les premiers précurseurs du quartier-jardin. Des maisons mitoyennes exiguës datant de 1907. Plus tard, les logements sont devenus un peu plus grands, mais dans les années 30, 50 et 70, on est toutefois passé à des appartements, car les coûts des lotissements de jardins se sont révélés trop élevés.
