Ce château a été construit en 1717 pour remplacer un ancien château. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il a été gravement endommagé par un V1 qui avait atterri dans un champ à proximité. En 1947, il a été reconstruit dans sa forme actuelle. Il a servi de résidence à plusieurs familles nobles. La famille Vanden Bogaerde-de-Lens, qui s'est installée vers 1835, était le fondateur et donateur de la chapelle, du couvent et de l'école à côté du château. Le blason de la famille est suspendu au-dessus du portail de la chapelle. Il fait partie du patrimoine protégé de Drongen depuis le 10.07.1986.
