Le Martin pêcheur est régulièrement observé au marais du Struykbeek. Cet oiseau de 17cm de long est caractérisé par son plumage bleu turquoise et rouge-orangé. On le repère par son vol rapide au-dessus de la surface de l'eau, qu'il termine en se perchant sur une branche, à l'affut d'un poisson.
