Dans l'ouest, nous voyons le marais, connu cadastrale comme "l'ancien cimetière". Jusqu'au 17ème siècle, l'église de Donk se tenait ici, une paroisse qui était assujettie à l'abbaye de Saint-Trond, sur une éminence, une "donk" : du latin Dunga ou colline de sable dans une zone marécageuse. Mais l'église a été inondée et les habitants de Donk l'ont démolie et ont construit leur église deux kilomètres plus au sud, là où c'était plus sec. Le joli canal sinueux s'appelle toujours le canal de l'abbé...
