Ad ovest vediamo il broek, catastalmente conosciuto come “il vecchio cimitero”. Fino al XVII secolo qui sorgeva la chiesa di Donk, una parrocchia che era in obbligo di tributo all'abbazia di Sint-Truiden, su una duna di sabbia, una “donk”: dal latino Dunga o collinetta di sabbia in zona paludosa. Ma la chiesa fu sommersa dall'acqua e i donkenari la abbatterono e costruirono la loro chiesa due chilometri più a sud, dove era più secco. Il bellissimo canale tortuoso è ancora chiamato abtsgracht...
