La magnifique porte d'entrée du bâtiment rappelle qu'il y avait autrefois un relais postal ici. Il a été fondé en 1789 par Antoine Gillard. Les cochers qui passaient la nuit à l'auberge profitaient de l'occasion pour changer de cheval. Après avoir été célèbre pendant deux siècles pour sa cuisine locale, le site a récemment été transformé en chambres d'hôtes.
Son aspect actuel date du 19e siècle, lorsque la charpente a disparu derrière un mince plâtre.
