Le nom "Tombeau du Géant" vient de la légende d'un héros gaulois de taille impressionnante qui refusa d'être capturé par les Romains et choisit de se jeter du rocher "Rocher des Gattes" plutôt que de mourir dans l'arène du Colisée. Le lendemain, les gens de Botassart ont retrouvé son corps et l'ont enterré sur une colline entourée par la rivière.
