La tour de guet de 31 mètres de haut est une réplique du derrick avec lequel André Dumont a extrait le premier charbon du sol en 1901. La tour de guet est librement accessible jusqu'à une hauteur de 25 mètres. Une fois au sommet, vous pouvez scruter l'horizon jusqu'aux terrils d'Eisden, Winterslag et Waterschei et vous avez une belle vue sur le parc national de la Haute Campine.
Il y a des centaines de milliers d'années , la Meuse était un peu plus à l'ouest et arrivait à l'endroit où se dresse cette tour.
