Der 31 Meter hohe Wachturm ist eine Nachbildung des Bohrturms, mit dem André Dumont 1901 die erste Kohle aus der Erde förderte. Der Wachturm ist bis zu einer Höhe von 25 Metern frei zugänglich. Wenn Sie oben angekommen sind, können Sie den Horizont bis zu den Terrillen von Eisden, Winterslag und Waterschei scannen und haben einen wunderschönen Blick über den Nationalpark Hoge Kempen.
Vor Hunderttausenden von Jahren war die Maas etwas weiter westlich und kam an die Stelle, an der dieser Turm steht.
