A la demande de l'Abbaye d'Orval , l'architecte Henri Vaes fait construire le pont de Cordemois à l'emplacement du bac .
Cela crée un lien avec l' abbaye « Notre Dame de Clairefontaine » . Celui-ci est situé à trois kilomètres sur l'ancien fief français qui a donné son nom à cette structure.
Ce n'était pas une idée nouvelle. En 1909 et 1910, l'architecte d'intérieur Georges Hobé avait déjà élaboré deux projets artistiques dont l'un était spécifiquement « Art nouveau ». Le bâtiment actuel est une belle construction aux murs latéraux en ardoise de style gothique de 1935.
Elle inspire depuis longtemps de nombreux artistes.
