Les gens auraient aimé avoir un cimetière autour de l'église à côté de l'ancien château 't Blauwhuis .
Le baron Conrad van der Bruggen s'y est opposé car il aurait toujours une vue sur le cimetière. Il a proposé de restaurer le cimetière et le gouvernement a érigé la première croix de cimetière en 1897, maintenant située en face du cimetière actuel.
Finalement , le baron van der Bruggen donna un terrain à l'église un peu plus loin , là encore il y eut opposition. Mais le pasteur Canepeel fit consacrer le cimetière et les paroissiens y furent enterrés. La première sépulture fut celle de Maria Ludovica Deneweth, sœur des Filles de l'Ordre de Marie. En 1905 , le cimetière et la route qui y mène ont été donnés à l'usine de l'église et en 1906, le baron Maurits van der Bruggen a accordé l'autorisation d'utiliser la voie "De Varens" pour le cortège funèbre.
