Cette brasserie familiale a été fondée en 1897 par Arthur Van den Bossche et appartient à la même famille depuis sa création, maintenant la quatrième génération .
La brasserie et la maison du brasseur associée constituent un exemple bien préservé d'une brasserie de village de la fin du XIXe siècle. Le complexe comprend une salle de brassage, une malterie, une remise, une forge et un puits , regroupés autour d'une cour pavée.
La brasserie est surtout connue pour ses bières Pater Lieven et sa gamme Buffalo .
La première bière Buffalo, Buffalo 1907 , fut créée, selon la tradition , par hasard lors d'une représentation du cirque Buffalo Bill dans le village. Un brassage oublié provoqua un léger goût de brûlé , étonnamment apprécié.
