Selon Gérard de Sède, le célèbre prophète Nostradamus aurait eu en consultation un ancien et secret livre de l'abbaye d'Orval. Il y aurait également écrit une série de ses prophéties. Jusqu'à la Révolution française et à l'époque de Napoléon, des livres et des prophéties provenant d'Orval, qui auraient été attribués à Nostradamus, ont été publiés.
