Volgens Gérard de Sède zou de gekende voorspeller Nostradamus een oud en geheim boek ter inzage gehad hebben van de abdij van Orval. Hij zou hier ook een reeks van zijn voorspellingen geschreven hebben. Tot aan de Franse Revolutie en de tijd van Napoleon verschenen uit Orval boeken en voorspellingen die aan Nostradamus zouden toegeschreven zijn.
