Échallens est une commune suisse du canton de Vaud, située dans le district du Gros-de-Vaud dont elle est le chef-lieu.
Échallens se trouve au cœur du Gros-de-Vaud, sur la région dite du plateau. Le centre du village, à la gare se situe à une altitude de 617 m. Le point culminant se trouve dans le Bois de la Commune, au bout du chemin du Grand Pic à une altitude de 670 m et le point le plus bas se trouve au pied du Mont Tessin à 594 m.
