Grimisuat est une commune valaisanne située entre 602 m et 1 022 m d'altitude. Elle compte 445 ha dont 399 de sol productif qui s'étend sur un coteau orienté plein sud.
Les fouilles archéologiques effectuées en 2005 et 2008 ont permis la mise en évidence d'une occupation au lieu-dit les grands champs vers la fin du « Néolithique ancien » dès 4700 ans av. J.-C..
