L'université Charles est une université tchèque, fondée à Prague le 7 avril 1348 ce qui en fait la plus ancienne université d'Europe centrale. Elle est aussi considérée comme la plus ancienne université allemande du fait de ses origines, Prague étant la capitale du Saint-Empire romain germanique au moment de la fondation de l'université Charles par l'empereur Charles IV.
