La Rur traverse Heimbach et s’élargit un peu plus loin dans un lac sinueux appelé Heimbacher Stausee. Plus haut se trouve le Rursee, qui est séparé du Heimbacher Stausee par le puissant barrage de Schwammenauel. Jetez un coup d’œil à toute cette beauté lors de la montée vers Gemünd. Au-dessus des terrasses de Heimbach se dresse fièrement le château de Hengebach, d’où le nom de Heimbach.
