Heidesheim am Rhein est une ancienne commune allemande, dans l'arrondissement de Mayence-Bingen, en Rhénanie-Palatinat, dans l'ouest de l'Allemagne.
En 1692, durant la guerre de la Ligue d'Augsbourg, le maréchal de Lorge, longtemps inactif, passa le Rhin, le 21 septembre, à Hagenbach , pour s'emparer de Pforzheim. La ville prise, il surprit, aux environs de Heidesheim, un camp de 6 000 cavaliers impériaux, commandés par le prince de Wurtemberg, en tua 900 et en prit 500. Le régiment Colonel-Général cavalerie s'illustra lors de cet engagement.
