Stechlin est une commune située dans le nord-ouest du district d'Oberhavel à Brandebourg. Elle fait partie de l'arrondissement de Gransee et des communes.
La commune de Stechlin se trouve dans le parc naturel Stechlin-Ruppiner Land et limite, au nord, le district de Mecklenburgische Seenplatte dans le Mecklembourg-Poméranie-Occidentale. Le territoire communal comprend le Grand Stechlinsee, qui, avec 70 m, est le lac le plus profond de Brandebourg.
