Wichlinghausen est un quartier historiquement développé dans le district d'Oberbarmen de la grande ville de Wuppertal en Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie. À des fins statistiques, le quartier est divisé en deux zones résidentielles : Wichlinghausen-Nord et Wichlinghausen-Süd.
Wichlinghausen est situé au nord de la Wupper sur le territoire de l'ancienne grande ville de Barmen, qui a été fusionnée en 1929 avec la grande ville d'Elberfeld et d'autres villes et communes pour former Wuppertal. À l'est, le quartier est bordé par Nächstebreck, au sud par les quartiers de Wupperfeld et Rittershausen, à l'ouest par les quartiers de Sedansberg et la vieille Gemarke, et au nord par le district de Hatzfeld.
