Rüttenscheid est un quartier de la ville d'Essen. Situé au sud du centre-ville, il fait face aux quartiers de Holsterhausen, Margarethenhöhe, Bredeney, Stadtwald, Bergerhausen, Huttrop et au Südviertel. Les limites de Rüttenscheid s'étendent au nord de la Albrechtstraße le long de la Kahrstraße, puis sur la Witteringstraße jusqu'à la Rellinghauser Straße. À l'est, le long de la Rellinghauser Straße jusqu'à l'A 52. De là, le long de l'A 52, y compris la zone industrielle de Langenbrahm située au sud de l'autoroute, jusqu'à la fin du Grugapark. À l'ouest, le Külshammerweg/Virchowstraße jusqu'à la Krawehlstraße/Brunostraße forme la limite.
