Le Margarethenhöhe est un quartier au sud de la ville d'Essen. Son noyau est la cité de Margarethenhöhe, qui est considérée comme la première cité-jardin allemande.
La cité de 115 hectares, gérée par la fondation Margarethe Krupp, est considérée comme un exemple de logement humainement durable. Elle compte 3 092 unités d'habitation réparties dans 935 bâtiments. 50 hectares de la superficie de la cité sont désignés comme terrain forestier non constructible.
