Hohenkirchen est un village de la commune de Wangerland dans l'État allemand de Basse-Saxe. Il fait partie du district de Friesland. Le village est le siège de l'administration municipale.
Hohenkirchen est un village de tertres. Le plus ancien tertre, selon des découvertes archéologiques, était déjà habité vers le début de notre ère. Au Moyen Âge, il s'est développé en tant que village paroissial autour de l'église. De 1889 à 1988, le village était relié à Jever et Carolinensiel par une ligne de chemin de fer peu fréquentée.
Le village a été le site d'une caserne de la Bundeswehr de 1973 à 2003.
