La Société allemande des naturalistes et des médecins est la plus ancienne association scientifique en Allemagne. Elle a été fondée en 1822 par le naturaliste allemand Lorenz Oken. Carl Gustav Carus, Albert Einstein, Fritz Haber, Hermann von Helmholtz, Alexander von Humboldt et Max Planck ont tous été étroitement associés à la société et ont contribué à façonner son développement. La société compte actuellement environ 2 500 membres. Elle organise une réunion tous les deux ans au cours de laquelle les développements en science et en médecine sont discutés.
