Le château de Lichtenberg est une ruine du type château à éperon ; avec une longueur de 425 m, c’est la plus grande ruine de château d’Allemagne. Il est situé près de Thallichtenberg, dans le district de Kusel en Rhénanie-Palatinat.
Le château a été construit vers 1200 et a appartenu jusqu’en 1444 aux comtes de Veldenz ; après quoi il est tombé dans la propriété d’Étienne, comte palatin de Simmern-Zweibrücken. Sous le nouveau règne, le château de Lichtenberg devint le siège administratif de Zweibrücken jusqu’au transfert de l’administration à Kusel en 1758. Le château resta sous le duché jusqu’à la dissolution du duché de Zweibrücken en 1792.
