Le château d'Oberstein, communément appelé "Nouveau Château", est en réalité un château médiéval perché qui domine le quartier supérieur d'Oberstein à Idar-Oberstein, dans le district de Birkenfeld dans le Hunsrück.
Le château d'Oberstein se trouve à l'ouest du "Rocher de l'Église", un abrupt rocher surplombant une église troglodyte, la célèbre chapelle troglodyte d'Idar-Oberstein, au-dessus de la vallée de la Nahe, à côté de la ruine du château de Bosselstein.
