Le Neckar est un affluent du Rhin par la rive droite, long de 362 km , qui draine un bassin hydrographique de 14 000 km2 dans le Bade-Wurtemberg, dans l'ouest de l'Allemagne. Son débit moyen à l'embouchure est de 145 m3/s. Du point de vue hydrologique, le Neckar est le 5e plus important affluent du Rhin derrière l'Aar, la Meuse, la Moselle et le Main ; par sa longueur et son débit, c'est le 12e plus grand cours d'eau d'Allemagne.
