La tour d'eau soigneusement restaurée, peinte en blanc, de Neumünster se trouve dans la Christianstraße. Elle a été construite de 1899 à 1900 sur le site de la centrale d'eau. Avec ses 48 mètres, elle est la plus haute tour d'eau du Schleswig-Holstein.
La "Baltische AG Licht-, Kraft- und Wasserwerke Neumünster" a construit la tour d'eau avec la centrale d'eau et une centrale électrique. La centrale électrique fournissait, avec ses machines à vapeur et ses générateurs, l'électricité pour entraîner les pompes à pistons. Celles-ci pompaient l'eau de 18 puits tubulaires d'environ 30 m de profondeur.
