The white-painted, carefully restored water tower of Neumünster is located on Christianstraße. It was built from 1899 to 1900 on the waterworks site. With its 48 meters, it is the tallest water tower in Schleswig-Holstein.
The "Baltische AG Licht-, Kraft- und Wasserwerke Neumünster" built the water tower together with the waterworks and a power plant. The power plant provided electricity to drive the piston pumps with its steam engines and generators. These pumps drew water from 18 approximately 30 m deep tube wells.
