La base militaire de Bergen Bergen ou Schießplatz Bergen-Hohne), au sud de la lande de Lunebourg , est, avec sa surface de 284 km2 l'une des plus grandes bases militaires d'entraînement en Europe.
En 1935, la Wehrmacht s'établit sur la commune de Bergen. Après la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale en 1945, la British Army of the Rhine s'installe et reste durablement en agrandissant la base. Depuis les années 1960, elle est utilisée aussi par l'armée allemande et les forces de l'OTAN.
