Le château de Kniphausen à Fedderwarden dans la zone urbaine de Wilhelmshaven en Basse-Saxe a été construit en 1438 et avait finalement « l'image typique d'une demeure noble de la fin de la Renaissance ». En 1666/67, il a été transformé en forteresse avec quatre bastions d'angle.
Le château médiéval tardif a été érigé sur la rive nord de la Maade, qui s'élargissait ici en forme de baie vers la Jade.
