Le château a été construit dans la seconde partie du 14ème siècle. Il a été construit dans le sud de la ville pour protéger le passage sur l’Oder. Pendant la guerre de Trente Ans, le château a été agrandi par étapes. Le château est progressivement démoli entre 1730 et 1754.
